Different ways to take payments

Overview

OnlinePay allows you to take payments in multiple ways and manage all of your transactions in one place. You can take payments via the dashboard, API, or by integrating your website to the OnlinePay payment gateway. You can also take payments via a shopping cart plug-in, a hosted payment page (HPP), via phone or mail using the Virtual Terminal, or by sending a Pay by Link. No matter which method you choose, you can view and manage all of your transactions in the OnlinePay dashboard.

Virtual Terminal (VT)

The Virutal Terminal allows payments to be taken for mail or telephone orders (MOTO). Payments taken using VT provide you with real-time authorisation, giving you an immediate response on approved and declined transactions.

ℹ️

Note

Please be aware that VT payments are not able to be authenticated with 3D Secure.

The Merchant Supervisor and Merchant Cashier role can perform Virtual Terminal transactions using the dashboard under Commerce > Payment Tools > Virtual Terminal.

See Virtual Terminal for more information.

Pay by Link

This feature allows you to sell online without a website integration. You can generate a unique link (URL) to send to your customers so they can access a Checkout page to make payments. These links can be shared through any channel you choose, such as SMS, email, web-chat, or added to an invoice.

Payment links are for the amount you specify. You can set an expiration time for how long the link can be accessible to your customers to pay.

The Merchant Supervisor and Merchant Cashier role can create payment links via the dashboard under Commerce > Payment Tools > Pay by Link or via the Checkout API. You can also manage your payment links (re-enable link, copy link, disable the link) or track status under this same menu.

You will not be able to take payments using Pay by Link until 3D Secure is established, which may take 48 hours after origination.

See Pay by Link for more information.

Shopping cart plug-in

OnlinePay can easily integrate with your shopping cart with plug-ins available for popular online store applications like Shopify®, WooCommerce®, Magento®, OpenCart®, and PrestaShop®.

Integrate with your website using the Checkout API

You can integrate your website to the OnlinePay using the Checkout API. The Merchant Admin, Merchant Supervisor, Merchant Cashier, and Merchant External Partner` roles can create an API key to integrate your website to the OnlinePay payment gateway to take payments using a customised Checkout page. The Checkout API allows you to create a custom payment page or iFrame to take payments on your website.

See Checkout API for more information.

Hosted Payments Page (HPP)

With this approach, your customer is redirected from your website to a payment page hosted by the gateway. Upon completion of the payment process, the shopper can be redirected back to your website after the payment is processed. If you don't specify a return URL, the shopper is shown the Checkout result page and not redirected elsewhere.

iFrame

Using iFrame you can display the Checkout page as a payment form on your website without having to redirect the customer to another URL. An iFrame is a way to embed a web page within another web page, where the Checkout is displayed as a pop-up page on your website.

ℹ️

Using an iFrame for Apple Pay may provide a suboptimal customer checkout experience depending on the browser and device used. We recommend using the HPP for checkouts that offer Apple Pay as a payment method.

API integration

You can integrate directly with the eCommerce API to initiate payments and manage wallet and card transactions.

Mobile SDKs

OnlinePay provides mobile SDKs so that you can take payments seamlessly using your native iOS or Android app.
